A pandemic-proof strategic agenda for Integrated Community Care

Challenge

Integrated Community Care (ICC) is a set of principles and a movement towards better health care systems. And ‘better’ means: more equitable, more effective, more adaptive, more humane, and ultimately also more efficient.

In 2020, the world has been shaken by COVID-19 pandemic. Its impact on societies worldwide is enormous. However, given that we are dealing with a challenge specifically in the domain of public health, it is to be expected that the impact on health and care systems will be particularly pronounced. Exactly how this is going to pan out is far from clear, given the systemic nature of the shock.

TransForm, the Transnational Forum on Integrated Community Care wanted to understand the potential impact of the COVID-19 crisis on its strategic agenda.

Contribution

We designed a compact process that included desktop research, consultation of experts and TransForm's Steering Committee, the development of future scenarios and the iterative discussion of an evolving strategy document, with the ultimate aim to come to the outline of a COVID-proof strategy to further the cause of Integrated Community Care.

Impact

The process shaped the strategic discussion within TransForm about the longer-term strategic agenda for the coalition. It also provided our client with tangible outputs - a publishable insights paper (forthcoming), a set of future scenarios, a set of actionable recommendations - to help them to engage with other stakeholders.
