Understanding Sustainable Peace

shiftN is working with an interdisciplinary team of experts from the Advanced Consortium on Cooperation, Conflict and Complexity at Columbia University to unravel the structure of sustainable peace. This research program seeks to better understand how negotiated settlements in conflicts can grow into a genuinely peaceful society, and vice versa, how disagreements in peaceful communities can be kept from spiraling into antagonism. The objective of this initiative is to develop a tool that will help researchers, policy makers, and other stakeholders in the generation, definition and testing of possible policy options to increase probabilities of peace. shiftN’s role in this project is to support the team of experts with systems mapping skills.
