... as teacher
I have always welcomed opportunities to share my knowledge in educational settings.
For me, the role of a teacher is to provide a minimal yet generative infrastructure that supports the unfolding of collaborative imaginative inquiry—an exploration aimed at expanding a sense of the possible in the minds of learners. I particularly enjoy longer teaching engagements, as they allow for deeper engagement with the material and richer connections with co-learners.
I co-founded the International Certified Future Strategist executive education programme, marketed by Kairos Future and now in its 12th edition, and I continue to contribute to that. Over the years, I have introduced diverse audiences to systems and futures thinking through invited contributions to educational platforms such as the School of Systems Change, open training courses via the former shiftN Academy, and tailored in-company sessions.
I have been a guest lecturer at KU Leuven and University College Ghent. Tutoring urbanism students in the Advanced Master programme 'Resources' at the Royal Institute of Art, Stockholm, has been a source of lasting friendships and innovative approaches that blend design and futures thinking. For a number of years, I also taught a semester-long course on Systems Approaches at the University of Hasselt. Currently, I lead and coordinate the course Landscape and Imagination as part of the Master of Advanced Studies in Urban and Territorial Design, a joint programme between EPFL Lausanne and ETH Zurich.
"To work with Philippe is a wonderful experience. I never stop to be amazed about his capacity to embrace difficult and complex issues and to formulate clear and sharp analysis. He has an amazing capacity to work with students and to lift each one's idea into a higher realm of understanding and context."
